Planning your adventure Heres what you need to know about Tourist Trekking & Mountaineering Visas for Pakistan.

1. Tourist Visa

  • Eligibility: Citizens of 126–191 countries via Pakistan’s eVisa portal
  • Documents Required:
    • Passport (valid for ≥ 6 months)
    • Recent passport-size photo
    • Travel itinerary and/or hotel booking
    • Letter of Invitation (LOI) from a registered operator (if required) – Request LOI
    • Optional: Return ticket & bank statement
  • Processing Time: 7–10 working days; ETA: 48–72 hours for eligible countries
  • Validity: Up to 3 months (single or multiple entries)
  • Traveler Tip: “Hotel booking confirmation… I was approved 15 minutes later.”

2. Trekking Visa

  • Apply under: "Mountaineering & Trekking" category at visa.nadra.gov.pk
  • Documents Required:
    • Passport and recent photo
    • Completed trekking visa form
    • Sponsor Letter / Agreement with licensed tour operator – Get Sponsor Letter
  • Processing Time: 4–6 weeks (apply early)
  • Permit Fees: US $50/month + ~US $50 waste-management fee (restricted areas)

3. Mountaineering Visa

  • Apply under: Same "Mountaineering & Trekking" category
  • Documents Required:
    • Passport, photo, completed mountaineering visa form
    • Sponsor Letter / Agreement with registered tour operator
    • Expedition details: member list, CVs, itinerary, route map, insurance (via tour operator)
  • Processing Time: 4–8 weeks
  • Royalty Fees:
    • Peaks ≤ 6500m: Free
    • Peaks > 6500m: US $1,500–12,000 (based on peak and zone)

Tips Before You Apply

  • Apply at least 1–3 months early (tourists), or 2–3 months early (trekkers/climbers)

  • Budget separately for in-country royalty and permit fees (not paid online)
  • Peaks above 6500m need climbing permits and extra fees
  • Book your travel only after receiving the Visa Grant Notice

Final Steps

  • Tourists: Apply with hotel bookings or request a LOI
  • Trekkers/Mountaineers: Get Sponsor Letter, complete forms, and submit via your operator
  • After Approval: Pay permit/royalty fees upon arrival and start your journey
